If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Romans 10:18

Prince of Peace,

We know that Your desire is that we live in peace with one another, yet in this world we see so much strife. We hear of wars and rumors of wars, nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and we know these are “but the beginning of the birth pains” (Matthew 24:6-8), signs that the end is drawing near. Until You return, there will never be true peace on this earth. Sometimes this cannot be helped. Injustice must be fought. Yet help people and nations not to needlessly rush into conflict or war. Be with leaders of nations that are fighting or combative, and give them a change of heart so they may work instead toward peace. May hostilities between nations and people groups cease, and may diplomacy prevail over bloodshed. Be with us in our personal lives as well, O Lord, that we may settle our differences and disagreements with civility and maturity. Drive bitterness far from the hearts of Your children, for hatred for one’s brother cannot exist in the same heart as love for God (1 John 4:20-21). May Your children be known for their love for and peace with one another. We pray the words of the ancient hymn, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel:

O come, Desire of Nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be Thyself our King of Peace.

I pray for the following nations or conflicts…
Please bring peace in the following situations and amongst the following people…

In Your name I pray. Amen.
