Hallowed be Thy name.

Matthew 6:9b

Holy Lord,

“You alone are holy” (Revelation 15:4), and yet You also command holiness from Your people. You told the Old Testament nation of Israel, “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy” (Leviticus 19:2). This seems an impossible task for us, and yet, to be holy is to be set apart. You have set us apart, consecrated us for service in Your kingdom, that we may be different from the world around us and witness for You. Lord, You chose us “before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before [You] (Ephesians 1:4). Since You have chosen us and set us apart, please help us to hallow Your name at all times. Your name is kept holy among us when your Word is taught in its truth and purity, and when we lead holy lives according to that Word. We are wholly unable to do this on our own. Forgive us for falling far short of Your perfect standard, and grant us strength to live lives that honor You. Give us wisdom as well, that we may teach Your Word properly. Correct those who have a wrong understanding of the Bible, and may Christians everywhere live lives that are dedicated to You by holy living. May we remember that we are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for [Your] own possession, that [we] may proclaim the excellencies of [You] who called [us] out of darkness into [Your] marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

Please help me to hallow Your name especially in the following areas…

In Your name I pray. Amen.
